Mukiibi Enoch

“My Paintings are used as a vehicle to share my personal views of my immediate world/imagination. My paintings say all there is about me, neither less nor more ....

Enoch Mukiibi was born in 1975 in Kampala to an Artist father. He grew up in an artistic environment, but it was only at High school that he developed an interest and chose Fine Arts as a subject. To his great disappointment, Enoch was unable to study Art at University as his secondary Fine Arts results went missing, twice in a row. He therefore, obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Social Linguistics and Literature in English at Makerere University graduating in 2000. Throughout the three-year course , he held onto his childhood dream of being an Artist and upon completion, he decided to practice art full-time, which he has successfully done since 2003.

"... Life is born out of pain. My work is mainly representations of African Cultures and life styles in my immediate environment. Through them, I talk about the day-to-day activities in a rural African setting-mothers, women, children,  etc., in semi-abstract forms.

"I use Oils, Acrylics and Water colors. I use my bare fingers, brushes and palette knives, executing thick bold layered strokes. There is a stubborn freedom seen in these strokes."
